Finding Physics Scholarships
Students pursuing degrees in Physics are often planning on careers in academics or in government. As you can see from the scholarships in the list below, the federal government is a huge source of jobs for physicists. Professionals may work in a wide range of specialties, including energy and astronomy, as well as sub-specialties like plasma physics, molecular and atomic physics and optical physics. You can also look for scholarships from nearly any college or university that provides a physics program.
Studying Physics
There are many career opportunities in which physics is a major requirement: engineering, architecture, computer-related programs, and technicians. Physics majors themselves can pursue a wide range of careers. Physics is such a fundamental subject, focusing on our basic understanding of the world, that a physics graduate will have skills useful in a wide range of fields and a strong ability to tackle all types of complex problems. Traditional career paths include research in industrial and national laboratories, as well as teaching at any level from primary through college.
Physicists' skills at solving complex problems make them desired by employers even in fields not obviously related to physics. In recent years physics majors have found jobs in such diverse fields as investment banking, stock-market analysis, and computer programming.
