People study music for different reasons. Whether you want to work in the entertainment industry, be a performer, or go into the recording field, with a degree in music, you will be able to go into almost any career in the music business. Performance, composition, teaching, business work, and production are all related careers. A degree in pure music will give you the widest options. However, if you're sure you want to go into a certain field, take coursework in that specific area.
